EMDR
EMDR Therapy in Columbus, OH
Reprocess trauma. Reclaim your story.
Trauma doesn’t just live in the past, it shows up in your body, thoughts, and relationships. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps you access and process those unhealed memories, so they no longer control how you feel or respond in the present.
EMDR at The Purple Tree is trauma-informed, collaborative, and shaped by your unique needs.
Whether you’re carrying the weight of a single event or years of emotional injury, EMDR allows your brain to do what it was designed to do: move toward healing.
What Is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy developed to treat PTSD, but it's also effective for anxiety, emotional reactivity, negative self-beliefs, and chronic patterns tied to trauma.
Rather than talking through every detail of what happened, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, typically eye movements or tapping to help your brain reprocess memories and reduce the emotional intensity tied to them.
EMDR Can Help With:
PTSD or complex trauma
Panic attacks or intrusive thoughts
Childhood neglect, emotional abuse, or attachment wounds
Shame, guilt, or feeling “stuck” in the past
Fear-based reactions that don’t match your current life
Compulsive behaviors and trauma-driven patterns
What Healing Can Begin to Look Like:
Feeling more grounded and less reactive
Relief from emotional intensity and nervous system overload
Clearer boundaries and stronger self-trust
Relief from triggers and beliefs that once held pain or power
Living in a way that reflects your values, not just your past pain
At The Purple Tree, EMDR is integrated with somatic and mindfulness-based approaches to honor your pace and nervous system.
Sessions are led by Jessica Murff, LPCC-S, NCC, CSAT, CMAT a trauma-informed therapist with over 17 years of experience helping adults heal from complex trauma, relationship wounds, and emotional intensity.
