Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT Therapy in Columbus, OH

Learn to regulate emotions, build boundaries, and respond instead of react.

When emotions feel too big or numb, when relationships feel hard to navigate, or when you’re stuck in patterns that don’t reflect your values, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) offers tools to help you slow down, respond with intention, and build a more stable inner world.

At The Purple Tree, we offer individual DBT therapy and DBT skills groups for adults seeking practical tools for emotional regulation, relationship balance, and behavioral change. Our approach is trauma-informed, relational, and personalized to your goals.

 What Is DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) blends mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

It helps you hold two truths at once: you can accept yourself as you are and still create change where it matters.

We offer:

  • Individual DBT-based therapy with a certified DBT therapist

  • DBT skills groups (not a full Linehan-style comprehensive program)

  • Integration with trauma-informed care, somatic work, and EMDR when appropriate

DBT Can Help With:

  • Feeling emotionally overwhelmed, reactive, or shut down

  • Shame, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting boundaries

  • Intense relationship dynamics or communication struggles

  • Compulsive behaviors and impulsivity

  • Navigating trauma, emotional sensitivity, or identity confusion

What Healing Can Begin to Look Like

  • Feeling more emotionally steady and less reactive

  • Building boundaries and communicating more clearly

  • Responding to stress with awareness instead of automatic patterns

  • Increased self-trust, emotional insight, and intention

  • Living in alignment with your values, not just your survival responses

Sessions and groups are led by Jessica Murff, LPCC-S, NCC, CSAT, CMAT, a certified DBT therapist with over 15 years of experience working with adults navigating trauma, emotional dysregulation, and patterned behaviors.

Therapy is available in-person in Columbus, OH.
